Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind

£10.99 £7.69

Have you ever wondered why us? Why did, as a species, make it through years and years, through natural disasters, what did we do to be able to survive such things? If you haven’t ask yourself this, that’s okay, but Yuval Noah Harari has.

Yuval Noah Harari, author of Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, is kind of a book about the history of the world but written from a much different perspective than most history books.

You see, centuries ago, when the world was just starting, there were up to six different human species in total. And now, many, many years later, there’s only one surviving species: The homo sapiens. We are the last and remaining human species in the world… But how? Just why?

Author Yuval Noah Harari talks about the evolution of men and how we came to be what we are right now by taking a look at the many things and events that happened through history. What marked us, what changed us, what things really set out the course for humankind to reach this point in time and history.

Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind is written in a beautiful, easy to ready way, something quite hard to manage, considering the subject and the number of topics that the author talks about from page one.

If you are looking for a well put together, exciting book about the history of humankind talked about from very different points of views, then this is definitely the right book for you.

From page one, the author talks about the social, political, economic backgrounds that have shaped us to be who we are right now. He manages to show us a side of human history that most people don’t really talk about to make us understand why we do most of the things we usually do.

He also touches on relevant topics like religion: Why we believe in anything?; Social manners, like why do we have the need to form groups? Why are we a social species that need constant contact?

The truth is, the book is written to make you question not the past and everything that once happened, but the present, and why you are doing the things you are doing, how history literally made you the way you are.
